European Union Military Academies Commandants’ Seminar (EUMACS) is an event held once a year, traditionally hosted by the member state that currently holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union. Every year, (Rector) Commandants and Commanders of the EU military academies and universities meet to discuss the current and future endeavours, the difficulties that may occur and share ideas. The seminar has a tremendous impact on the future shape of the cooperation between the EU military academies and universities under the European Initiative for the Exchange of Young Officers (EMILYO) programme in the frame of the European Security and Defence Policy.

The EMILYO programme is aimed to maintain and develop the cooperation between all military universities of the EU member states. The goal is to ensure the interoperability of military training and education, allowing young officers, as well as their lecturers and instructors, to exchange their knowledge, good practises and experience with each other.

Therefore, EUMACS is such an important event which enables to raise all the crucial aspects regarding the cooperation between EU military academies and universities.
